Alison Kent-- Deep Breath

Just finished reading Alison Kent's Deep Breath the other night. This was my Kent book, and I genuinely liked it. Kent set the characters up well, provided an intriguing situation (diner hostage situation involving the protagonist's brother used to compel her (Georgia) to accept a search mission for the bad guy), and moved the scenes nicely through dialogue. And, best of all, the sex scenes were STEAMY!!!! For that reason, I want to liken Kent to Lori Foster, a writer whose work I really enjoy.

While I liked the book a great deal. I did stumble over some of the sentence structures in the earlier chapters--which caused me to re-read lines. I had a problem with the plot: I wondered why the SG-5 group, whom I really didn't get a great deal of knowledge about in this book, didn't just swoop in and take out the hostage holder, when they seemed to have the ability--but, that would have messed up the plot that kept Georgia and Harry together. I also must say that the first half of the book moved faster than the latter half for me; it was easier for me to walk away from the book when I got to those later chapters--in the first half, I was forgoing sleep to read just a little more.

Still, overall, this book was a good read. I'll certainly be buying more books by this author, especially books in the SG-5 series.

Whew!

Yep, I've not been blogging for a few days. Mostly, work has kept me too busy, but I took two days off to finish a screenplay for a class I took an incomplete on almost a year ago when my heart was acting wacky. I finished that and mailed it off. So, whew! Now, I just have one minor bit of game writing to finish before getting back to my WIP.
